Micro Hair Rooting with Cindy Kohlscheen
Learn the professional techniques of micro-rooting hair with award-winning reborn artist and author Cindy Kohlscheen. You'll learn about the types and qualities of mohair, dying and processing, care and styling, and hair design. Depending upon your skill level and the size of the doll head, you may or may not complete rooting the whole head; however, you will be able to master the technique during class.

Materials provided: 1 ounce of mohair (choice of colors in class) and 6 fine rooting needles.  All other materials will be provided for use.
Students should bring: A finished, completely painted vinyl doll head

The Art of Using Genesis Heatset Paints with Stephanie Sullivan
Learn the art and magic of turning ordinary vinyl play dolls into realistic reborn babies. Award-winning artist Stephanie Sullivan will show how to use the revolutionary, permanent Genesis Paints and mediums to create lifelike, natural skin tones and details on your dolls. Beginner through advanced topics will be covered.

Materials provided: preemie vinyl doll kit; Genesis Heatset Paints, thinners, and mediums to complete your doll; cosmetic sponge wedges; loaner heat guns (to be returned at end of class or purchased at discount); one small porcelain palette.
Students should bring: Your own heat gun if desired; paintbrushes (you can buy the Reborner's Select 7 Brush Set for a discounted price of $27); Xacto-type craft knife; your own Genesis paints/thinners/mediums; any other reborning tools you like to use.

Sculpt an 8" Full-Bodied Mini Baby with Olivia Stone
In this all-day workshop, you'll learn everything you need to know to sculpt a complete 8" baby. Learn proportions and how to make basic armatures for the baby. Also taught is how to sculpt realistic fingers and toes and the best ways to arrange the babies in a natural position.

Materials provided: Clay to complete full baby and sculpting tools
Students should bring: Small box with padding to take transport baby back home; tape measure.

Everything You Need to Know To Purchase A Reborn Doll with Patty Jarrard
This in-depth workshop will cover all aspects of purchasing a reborn doll, including tips on researching the artist, checking return policies, and buying on Ebay. Learn the 17 things you should look for in a doll and the top 10 things to avoid to ensure your beautiful baby is worth the investment. Furthermore, whether you're a collector or buyer, you need to know what hazardous materials to look for, what questions to ask to make sure your doll is safe, and if purchased internationally whether it will clear customs. As a reborn artist, you’ll get helpful tips on making high-quality, professional reborn babies.

FREE Workshop: Maximize Your Market Potential
In the first part of this seminar, Susan Fitzgerald and Joan Lynch, Publisher and Editorial Director of Doll Reader, focus on strategies to help you market your company online, in print, and in person. You'll learn where and how often to advertise and how to negotiate the best deal. You'll also find out how to get free publicity and how to write an effective press release. In the third part of the workshop, Diane Dwyer, Tiny Treasures Trade Show Manager, gives expert advice on establishing return on investment at collector and trade-show events.

Everlasting Eyes – Eyelash and Rooting Demonstration with Stephanie Sullivan
This unique workshop will demonstrate the delicate techniques needed to create beautiful, realistic eyes and eyelashes for open- and closed-eyed babies. Inserting eyes through the front of the doll head will be shown, as will creating expressions with eye placement. You'll get expert tips on ultra-micro-rooting while award-winning artist Stephanie Sullivan demonstrates with the 43G German needle and quality mohair. She'll also give tips for rooting brows. You can observe the hands-on demonstration or bring your own doll head and rooting material to work alongside Stephanie.

Materials provided: Tutorial worksheets; glue; loaner mushroom rooting tools and needles (rooting tools and needles will be available for sale).
Students should bring: Mohair, needles, rooting tools, eyelash strips, your choice of doll eyes and heads if you want to work along.

Advanced Skin Painting Techniques with Cindy Kohlscheen
Attend this workshop to discover how you can apply advanced professional skin painting techniques with award-winning reborn artist and author Cindy Kohlscheen. Class discussion and demonstration will cover the different types of skin painting techniques, including the three-dimensional affect, blotchy and mottled appearance, porcelain-looking skin tone, birthmarks, stork bites, milia, milk bumps, beauty marks, veining and capillaries, and transparent skin. Cindy will also demonstrate the techniques for painting African American or ethnic skin tones.   

Materials provided: All materials provided, including use of a Genesis Heatset Paint Palette and heat gun.

How to Set Up a Casting Studio with Larry Arnold
If you're considering setting up your own casting studio, talk to an expert. Larry Arnold of Arnold Babies Studios has plenty of experience and will discuss costs; space and equipment needed; overview of the molding/casting process; types of molds; coloring issues; and lots more.

Mother/Daughter Day
This special event is open to all children age 5 and up, accompanied by parent, guardian or family member, and local girl scout troops. Each child will create a special take-home item, receive paper dolls, and get a free copy of the special Young Collectors issue of Doll Reader Magazine. Children are encouraged to bring their favorite doll for show & tell. Also includes admission to the show floor on Sunday. There is no charge for adults attending with their child or girl scout troop.

Accessorize to Sell Your Baby with Patty Jarrard
This class will cover some great tips on including simple accessories for your baby that will help you increase your sales. These low-cost and fun options will help you create a theme for your baby and enhance the presentation. We’ll also cover some tips on posing babies with accessories for photo shoots, tips on calculating add-on costs for accessories, and places to purchase supplies. Each attendee will receive a special accessory, and one lucky attendee will win a gift certificate to a doll supply store.
